FESTIVAL DE LUCHON : TWO AWARDS FOR THE DEAD QUEEN

02/20/2009

Two prestigious awards for THE DEAD QUEEN at the Festival de Luchon in February 2009.
THE DEAD QUEEN, a 90 minutes movie (produced by Chrisitian CHARRET and Jacques SALLES (GTV, Marathon Group) and directed by Pierre BOUTRON, with Michel AUMONT, Gaëlle BONA, Thomas JOUANNET and Astrid BERGES-FRISBEY) has received the Silver "Prix des Pyrénnées" - second best fiction award - and the "Prix de la revelation féminine" (best new actress) for Gaëlle BONA.
In January, THE DEAD QUEEN has received a warm welcome from professionals of the industry as well as from the audience at the 2009 FIPA.

Adapted from an eponymous play by one of France's greatest writers, Henry de Montherlant from the Académie Française, The Dead Queen is a surprisingly modern film. By focusing on a tragic episode in Portuguese History, the author has come up with a fable of universal proportions and places two types of people at loggerheads with each other: those , like Ferrante and the Infanta, who can not do without power and those, like the lovers Don Pedro and Dona Ines, who have the power to do without.
