Zodiak Rights secures further sales for drama hit Versailles
Zodiak Rights, the international distribution arm of Banijay Group, has today confirmed a number of additional sales of its global scripted hit Versailles.
The first season of the 10 x 1 hour epic drama has now been acquired by Amazon Prime in the UK.
Ovation TV, America's premier network for arts and cultural programming, announced today they have acquired U.S. premiere rights to Versailles. The serie is scheduled to premiere on October 1, 2016. In Russia, free to air broadcaster Channel One has picked up Versailles as well as Sony Pictures Television International Networks, which will broadcast Versailles on its pay TV channel Sony Entertainment Television in Russia and 15 countries in Eastern Europe. Other European sales include Icelandic National Broadcaster RUV, and RTP1 in Portugal. Latin American viewers will also be able to enjoy Versailles as Globosat Brazil and Direct TV pick up rights for Spanish speaking Latin America.
The Canal+ Création Originale series, co-produced by Zodiak Fiction, Capa Drama, and Incendo, has now been sold into more than 135 countries and is set to air on Sky Germany this Spring and will make its terrestrial debut on BBC Two in the UK later this year. Following this latest deal, the first season will be available to Amazon Prime members in the UK less than two months after its terrestrial debut. A second season is currently in production.
The season one premiere of Versailles broke viewing figure records for Canal+ in France, making it the best performance for a Canal+ originated drama since 2013.
